60 Minutes Correspondent Andy Rooney (CBS)

As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:
A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think. If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it's usually more interesting. Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom have a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it. Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated. Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart. Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wonder where you stand with her! Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 40, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress. Ladies, I apologize. For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?", here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!

Andy Rooney is a really smart guy!

Pixel Terminator - A New Image Enlargement and Enhancement Tool
===============================================================

A friend of mine recently released an online image enlargement and
enhancement tool, Pixel Terminator, that I'd like to share with you.

Some of you commented on the photographs that I posted this week. The original photographs were very small and quite useless. With Pixel Terminator I was able to enlarge them to 75 inches wide. (You may even have noticed that they were old pics taken in 2004 on my old camera. The bluebells ARE out in Cumbria at the moment, though!)

Pixel Terminator even works with files from your phone - you can enlarge photos you took on your cell phone and print them poster size.

That got me thinking about fractals and long render times. I decided to try it on a fractal I had already posted in my DA gallery so that I could show you the results. My fractal 'Forbidden Fruit' was the guinea pig. I had initially rendered it at 3200 x 2488, quality 2000. I re-rendered it at 876 x 681 and set the quality at 4000 which took about 10 minutes to render. I then sent the file to Pixel Terminator and within a few minutes it was back enlarged to 7200 x 5598. Here is the result:

The original image (left) and the image after enlarging with Pixel Terminator.

I then decided to see what it would do to one of my top faved fractals 'Glowing in silver and gold'. The original was rendered at 3200 x 2488, quality 2000. Again I re-rendered the image at 876 x 681 and set the quality at 4000 and enlarged it to 7200 x 9000 using PixelTerminator. Have a look at the results below.

Pixel Terminator also has a colour correction option which is pretty amazing and there are some special effects in the pipeline. Read the testimonials and read the FAQs for answers to your questions about copyright, etc. The developer of Pixel Terminator, is a well-known artist and well aware of image theft issues.

Have a look at Pixel Terminator try it out (free trial) and see what you think. If you have photos that you'd like to enlarge or you've lost parameters to a favourite fractal (I did AND rendered them too small!) this is a really useful tool!

My Favourites and Update - Copyright Infringement

Journal Entry: Sun May 11, 2008, 8:12 PM
This issue has been resolved. Thank you all for your input and support!

Copyright infingement?

Tonight I received a note from a DA member saying the following:

Hi,

I've featured your work in my blog.

Feel free to drop by...
[link]

Thanks

I clicked on the link and found a very attractive blog exhibiting works from various DA members. When I clicked on a picture, I was taken to Flickr where these images are stored [link] .

Perhaps I am out of line here, but I was annoyed first by the way it was done and secondly by the fact that my image now belongs to a Flickr gallery. I have responded to him both by note and on his DA front page.

I'm sure lots of you have received the same note and I am interested to know what your response is. I'm sure it was done with the best intent, but I DO think permission ought to be received before doing things like this. What do you think??

How to be a perfect bitch...

Jennifer's wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement - not even her parents' nasty divorce. Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear and would be the best dressed mother-of-the-bride ever!

A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father's new young wife had bought the exact same dress! Jennifer asked her to exchange it, but she refused.
"Absolutely not, I look like a million bucks in this dress and I'm wearing it," she replied.

Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, "Never mind sweetheart. I'll get another dress. After all, it's your special day." A few days later, they went shopping and did find another gorgeous dress. When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, "Aren't you going to return the other dress? You really don't have another occasion where you could wear it. Her mother just smiled and replied, "Of course I do, dear. I'm wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding."
